HD Radio Comes To The iPhone

November 9, 2009: HD Radio moves into the mobile market with the Gigaware Navigation Control HD Radio Receiver, a new accessory that -- combined with a free application, available in the Apple App Store -- lets HD Radio broadcasts be heard over Apple iPhones and iPod Touch devices for the first time. The Gigaware accessory, a flag-shaped inline device, is available at RadioShack for $79.99.

The app allows tuning either manually or through auto-seek, and interfaces with Twitter, Facebook, and e-mail. Content previews and bookmarking of favorite stations are also available, and the Gigaware device lets users tag songs for later purchase on iTunes.

HD Radio broadcasts are already available on the newest model of iPod nano -- the first built-in radio tuner on any Apple iPod -- and on
