There’s Now More Energy in San Diego

CBS’ ENERGY 103.7 in San Diego has launched its new morning show with Tonya Gonzalez and Sean “Sonic” Leckie co-hosting. PD Chris Patyk said, “There’s no mistaking the drive and passion Tonya and Sonic have for winning. Their chemistry together is undeniable and they know this city and the ENERGY listeners. We’re excited to bring everyone along for the ride.”

Gonzalez began her radio career in 2007 at KHTS when she worked as an intern, gradually moving up through the ranks of promotions and programming including working alongside AJ Machado as co-host for 10 years to become one of San Diego’s morning personalities. She said she is beyond thrilled to officially kick off something new, something local, something fresh for listeners in San Diego with Sonic who she’s worked with in many ways in these past 10 years. “His fire, his heart and determination is contagious and makes me excited to begin this journey with him. I’ve been one of Energy 103.7’s biggest cheerleaders since the beginning and I’m so grateful for this opportunity to do real radio every morning here in my hometown.”

Sonic began his radio career in 2006 as an intern for AJ’s Playhouse on KHTS San Diego. After a stint in Atlanta, helping launch Power 96.1-WWPW as the Afternoon host, Sonic returned to San Diego as the Afternoon Drive host on ENERGY 103.7, developed a Mix DJ Team and two online video series – #TacoShoppin, and #SingleInSanDiego. He said what a radio ride he’s on right now. “I’m proof that if you set goals and put your mind to it, you can do anything. Starting as intern in this market with huge morning talent, I never imagined I would be Co-Hosting Morning Drive in San Diego. Thank you to Tonya for believing in me to team up and share the airwaves with her. Big thank you to Peter Schwartz, Chris Patyk, and everyone else behind us in the building. It’s a good feeling.”
