WAY-FM Went North To Alaska Bearing Gifts

The recent successful Alaska cruise celebrating the 30th anniversary of the ministry included a special opportunity for those on board to give back to the people of Alaska by providing a backpack full of school supplies for needy children in the state capitol of Juneau. The 121 full backpacks were presented dockside in Juneau by WAY-FM’s Carlos to Guy Crockett, Executive Director of Love, Inc .and Alaska’s first lady Donna Walker.

Carlos said, “I was blown away by the generosity of our listeners. When we go on vacation it’s easy to put yourself in a ‘ME’ mindset — the fun I will get to have, the places I will get to go, the things I will get to do. For us all, WAY-FM staff included, to put that vacation mode mindset aside and bring so many backpacks to bless the children of Juneau was a beautiful thing to see.”

WAY Media Chief Operating Officer Lloyd Parker noted, “This event fit in perfectly with our LIVE (it) OUT initiative, where we encourage our listeners to participate in service projects in their local communities. We had a 54% participation rate per cabin, which is terrific. And special kudos to our friends at Inspiration Cruises & Tours for helping put this together, we couldn’t have done it without them.”
