Valenti Replacing Francesa Getting Serious

That’s according to The Detroit Free Press as the Detroit sports talk star sits in the Fancesa chair in New York filling in today (he also subbed for Francesa Wednesday and Thursday). Valenti is a ratings magnet for The Ticket in Detroit. Both WFAN and The Ticket are owned by CBS (for now of course). The 36-year old Valenti is a New York native.

He went to school at Michigan State and never left and approaches his show as a non-fan, according to the paper. The Ticket is the only sports station in town after Greater Media (now Beasley) dumped the format and went to Hip-Hop.

Francesa has been Radio Ink’s #1 local sports talker since the list was created. In 2016 Valenti was ranked 5th. At the time Terry Foster was still his on-air partner. Foster recently retired due to health issues and CBS has not hired another co-host for Valenti.
