WGCI Spreading The Gift Of Music In Chicago

In a great act of community support, iHeartMedia Chicago and 107.5 WGCI, “Chicago’s No.1 Station for Hip-Hop & R&B,” have launched a year-long partnership with Scott Joplin Elementary School on Chicago’s South Side. The goal: To develop a music program for the school’s students. Studies show that music programs benefit students in terms of grade-point average, graduation rate, ACT scores, attendance, and discipline referrals.

Scott Joplin Elementary is named after the renowned composer and pianist who was dubbed “the king of ragtime.” As part of the partnership, 107.5 WGCI will donate $1 of each ticket sale from the station’s signature annual concerts – Summer Jam and Big Jam. In addition, 107.5 WGCI recently launched a merchandise store with 100% of the net proceeds music program.

“I am extremely excited about the partnership with iHeartMedia Chicago and 107.5 WGCI,” said Alene Mason, Principal of Scott Joplin Elementary School. “This partnership will provide our students with a state-of-the-art music program, enabling them to learn and explore the global impact of music and the arts.”

The first donation check will be presented during 107.5 WGCI’s Summer Jam concert at the United Center on Saturday, July 8, 2017.
