At its Hall of Fame and Scholarship Luncheon on February 24, the Georgia Association of Broadcasters encouraged the future and paid tribute to the past. This year’s HOF inductees included former President and CEO of  Lincoln Financial Media Group Don Benson (pictured); broadcasting stalwart John Ray of WRDW and WAGT in Augusta; current owner of WKUB, WWUF, and WSGT in Waycross and Blackshear, Troy Mattox; and legendary voice of the Atlanta Hawks Steve Holman.
Turning to the industry’s future, six $1500 scholarships were given out to Leslie Pritchett  from the Piedmont College, Macie Banks from the University of Georgia, Kemani Miles from the University of Georgia, Briana Young from the University of Georgia, Kayla Hamm from Georgia Southern University, and Taylor Ann Yaughn from Columbus State  University. “We think it is a great synergy to recognize the future of the industry on the same day we honor people who contributed so much to building broadcasting to what we are today,” said Bob Houghton, President of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.
This year’s Hall of Fame class  brings the total  number of inductees to 81, while the GAB  has  given 40 scholarships since 2006, totaling over 860,000.
