To nail it down to the last buck, the Alpha Media station (aka WXLC-FM) raised $18,719 for St. Baldrick’s during their annual “Hair for Hope” event, March 19 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Green Town Tavern in Waukegan. The Morning Show with Jimmy & Lisa broadcasted live from the event. Producer Tommy B. raised funds by volunteering to get his head shaved, along with the 102.3 XLC News Reporter Tim Vander Tuuk’s son, Jacob. There was also a 50/50 raffle and various giveaways, including a Bahamas cruise vacation, a trip to Las Vegas, an LED TV, and concert tickets.

Alpha Media, Waukegan-Kenosha Market Manager Karl Wertzler commented on the announcement, “102.3 XLC is proud to continue this partnership to make a positive difference with kids and their families.”

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-powered charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government.
