The new 5-part podcast series is called “The Investigation Continues” and it debuts Monday. WTOP reporter Neal Augenstein examines the circumstances behind the 1975 disappearance of 12-year-old Sheila Lyon and her 10-year-old sister Katherine.
The case has haunted the Washington, D.C., region for more than four decades – after the Lyon sisters walked from their house to a shopping center and never returned home.
In September, a man goes on trial for the murders of Sheila and Katherine Lyon, even though their bodies have never been recovered. Augenstein takes an in-depth look into the disappearance and the clues investigators pursued, and in some cases, missed, as a community continues to search for answers.
