2017: The Year The Cumulus Rubber Hits The Road

That’s the message in a company-wide video by Cumulus CEO Mary Berner posted to Vimeo. It was called the “Be a LEADer Town Hall. The goal of the video is to get every Cumulus employee to play a role in lifting sales at every radio station across the country.

Cumulus did not make its 2016 sales budget, according to Berner in the video. She said generating higher sales could be the biggest driver of our turnaround. “Every single employee will benefit by supporting our efforts to sell more.”

Berner said the company still had significant challenges, including limited resources and a funky market, it’s going to take an extra 212 degree effort from everyone to deliver the performance we expect. She said, to be honest, given where we are right now, we’re going to have to boil (at 212 degrees, water boils) in 2017 to beat the guy across the street. Berner launched a company-wide be a leader program.

  1. How ’bout generating better programming along with more listenable and influential commercial content?
Meanwhile, I wonder: Has Cumulus been forced by its own machinations to take on the role of Lead Canary….? Dark days in the coal mines.
If I am out of line or ask too much, I am sure someone will advise me. 🙂
