Bubba Responds To Eric’s Commentary

4

On Thursday, Radio Ink Chairman Eric Rhoads wrote THIS commentary about the Bubba The Love Sponge situation. It was called “Why Managing Your Talent Is Key To Revenue Growth.” Apparently Bubba didn’t appreciate Eric’s commentary and ranted on about it for about 15 minutes on his show Thursday morning (AUDIO HERE). He also fired off a letter to Eric that he has given us permission to print. Here it is…

Eric:

I read your article. Really buddy. Did you bother to do any research before you decided to write your piece. What your piece should have been titled was Neilson and huge radio companies even can control the trades that report the industry news.

Aircheck sessions. How many have you been in?
I’ve spent hours and hours in them.
Hours with people like:
Greg Cassidy
Jeff McCartney
Buddy Scott
Mark Driscol
Marc Chase
Randy Michaels
Brad Hardin
Tim Sabien

Have you heard of any of these people. Certainly all are not pushovers. And didn’t tell me anything I wanted to hear. I invite you to a aircheck session with mark Driscol. (I’m thankful for Mark’s direction, but personally I think you Eric would be crying like a baby.)

Do you realize prior to Cox letting me go that I was #1 men And persons for 28 quarterly books in a row? Do u have any idea how all this transpired ? Or is it just cool or glam to kick a radio personality in the nuts. Due to the fact I can’t buy full page ads in your rag or have every one of my radio stations subscribe to your rag. How many hours have you spent behind a 4 hour monologued based morning drive show? I’ve been doing it for 21 years. How about you?

Do u find it odd Beasley would fire me in Tampa. But keep me in Fort Myers 105 miles away? BTW Cox doesn’t compete or put pressure on Neilson to manipulate the Fort Myers ratings. So I’m probably good there. There are lot of great mornings shows that do other things besides discussing men having toy dogs. If this if your idea of a example of a show that’s Been “nurtured and airchecked”. Then I guess you’re ahead of the curve in proclaiming terrestrial radio is done.

There’s more to radio than :25 second speed breaks and feed down the line “hub and spoke” voice tracking.

I invite you to actually

1. Read the counter claim (oh wait you can’t ) because of the gamesmanship that Neilson has played for over 17 months. So it’s taken me 100,000 dollars and 5 months to just have the ability to even file a counter claim to explain to the industry my side of the story. Let’s not forget something Eric. I’m the defendant. Usually it’s the plaintiff that wants as much evidence allowed and the defendant that fights. Not in this case. Neilson knee jerked to be able to make a example out of one of the largest names to date that has been accused in a ratings issue. And should have never sued me. The expression be careful what you wish for will certainly come into play.

I’m asking the court to allow all the evidence. They have deemed all of it is confidential. Seems the company that’s suppose to keep score fairly and be transparent. Isn’t.

Your article was exactly what’s wrong with radio.

Let’s discuss men having a toy dog. And let’s have 45 aircheck sessions planning that particular subject. Then after we do that break. Let’s make it the clip of the day. And see if we can monetize it for 16 cents on our station you tube. Oh. Then let’s send that break over our company drop box so that it can be voice tracked on our smaller market all voice tracked top 40. Brilliant. When radio fails because talent like me And others have been forced out. Then Whats going to separate reg radio from the other 4000 forms of music only juke boxes avail via a smart phone /internet. And now your car dashboard.

Eric. Be careful what you wish for. I don’t think Spotify -pandora -Sirius xm and others subscribe or even have heard of a bird cage liner called radio ink.

Now off to do my out of control never been airchecked still heard in 7 markets radio program. From my own studios. I’ve been at studio since 445am. Me and the guys are arguing which breed of toy dog to choose for Today’s most important breaks.

I invite you to quit hiding behind your uninformed Corp radio ass kissing pen. And call my show to discuss on air your article.

You have my email.
I look forward to hearing from you.
