  1. Congratulations to Ron Parker! I first became acquainted with Ron Parker as I, a very young man, struck out into the world and moved from Michigan to Houston, in 1981. At the same time, a new radio concept came to the Bayou City, known as the ‘Q Morning Zoo’, on a new Top 40 station, 93Q. Among the outstanding air talent on 93Q was Ron Parker. A whole lot of us listeners fell in love with this new thing we were hearing, and KKBQ did amazingly well in the ratings for many years, thanks, in part, to the contributions and talent of Ron Parker.

A couple years down the road, because of my lifelong love, from childhood, of music and Top 40 radio, I enrolled at the University of Houston to achieve an ‘RTV’ broadcasting degree. For one of my RTV classes, I had to go out and interview a broadcasting personality and write a paper on the subject of the interview. The person I selected to interview for that project was none other than Ron Parker. To this day, I remember Ron Parker being very informative and kind to this too-eager kid and college student who came in to pick his brain and try to actually get some real-world advice and wisdom to help me propel my eventual radio career.

In December 1995, I graduated from UH with that hard-earned RTV degree and quickly began a fun and rewarding career in radio. Thank you, Ron Parker, for your part in getting me along my way.
