Matt Leucking (pictured) worked for Emmis’ WTHI in Terre Haute. Police found Leucking’s body in his apartment Monday morning after making a wellness check. They knew right away they were dealing with a homicide. The cause of his death has not yet been released but three arrests have been made already in the case.

Leucking’s vehicle was missing when police were contacted about someone trying to use the DJ’s credit card at the local Walmart. Police later found two men loading items into Leucking’s car and arrested 24-year-old John Collins, charging him with murder. Later in the morning, two more arrests were made. 28-year-old Benjamin Selig was charged with assisting a criminal, a felony, and 25-year-old Kathleen Featherstone was charged with felony murder, robbery, and burglary. More arrests are possible.

Emmis Vice President & General Manager James Connor told Radio Ink, “We are still in shock that something so violent could happen to someone as nice as Matt Luecking. Matt meant a great deal to our radio family and our community, he was a great ambassador for radio and will be missed by us all.”

Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan sent out the following note to his team. “We wanted to let you know that we have lost a valued member of the Emmis family. Matt Luecking, an employee at Emmis Terre Haute, was killed yesterday. Details of the situation are still unclear and arrangement details are not yet available. Matt joined Emmis in 2015 and served as on-air talent. He has been a part of the broadcasting community for over 20 years, including multiple on-air stints in Terre Haute and Indianapolis. This is obviously a tragic situation and our thoughts and prayers are with Matt’s friends and family. We’re providing grief counselors in Terre Haute to assist the staff in dealing with this loss and will share the funeral arrangements once they have been confirmed.”
