It’s a newly created position for McHale who comes to CBS Radio from American Apparel, where he was SVP and Chief Information Officer and responsible for rebuilding the entire IT organization from the ground up.

McHale will be responsible for building and overseeing CBS Radio’s first dedicated information technology team, along with effective technological strategies, and infrastructure to support the company’s 117 radio stations across 26 markets, and digital assets. McHale will also develop security solutions to protect CBS Radio’s multi-platform products, and build a structure to support the IT needs of the company’s employees at both the enterprise and local market levels.

Prior to American Apparel, McHale was Chief Technology Officer of Journal Broadcast Group where he was responsible for broadcast engineering for the company’s radio and television stations, and developed a multi-platform technology plan that also incorporated Web, mobile, and OTT properties. Before Journal Broadcast Group, McHale served as the VP of Technology for Fisher Communications where he introduced news automation, cloud-based sharing and a media asset management system to improve collaboration amongst the company’s radio and television stations. Earlier in his career, McHale held various senior level IT positions with Mobile500 Alliance, DIRECTV Sports Networks, Starz Entertainment, Discovery Communications, and Verizon Communications.

McHale will be based at the company’s New York City headquarters, and report to Andre Fernandez, CBS Radio’s President.
