He’s had about a year of downtime since he was replaced at Cumulus and the former Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey spent eight months of that year writing a book about the media business. It’s available on Amazon now.

lews-bookIt’s called The New Modern Media, and in it Dickey tells Radio Ink, “It’s a comprehensive look at disruption, strategy, threats and opportunities. It was written for anyone who works, invests or covers media and advertising.”

iHeartMedia CEO Bob Pittman offered up this review for Dickey’s book. “I ve spent my entire professional life in the media business, and today technology is enabling media to evolve at an ever faster pace to meet consumers changing needs. Lew s book is a timely resource for anyone working or investing in the media industry shedding an important light on some of the critical challenges and opportunities inherent in today s vibrant and complex media landscape.”

  1. Wow. This is like something you’d read in The Onion!!- A complete and abject silver-spooned pompous failure, Lew Dickey, demonstrating unparalleled pomposity in writing a book about the very industry that he directly helped to destroy. And his book is endorsed by another egomaniac Bob Pittman, the smooth-tongued con man who has absolutely no clue and no business acumen– he hasn’t made Clear Channel one dime in profit ever since he Pittman started running CC seven years ago. So of course he’d be endorsing an incompetent fool like Dickey.

  2. Lew’s book should be entitled:

    “How to be completely useless:
How to use other people’s money to destroy and financially gut great radio stations; leave investors holding the bag for huge debt; and wind up on the corporate equivalent of house arrest.
