Kudos To Forcht Broadcasting In Kentucky

Digital Marketing Director Amy Stroud sends us the details about an idea WYKY-FM in Somerset, KY, pulled off to support local police. The radio station asked the entire community to honk their car horns at 12:15 p.m. on July 27 in support of the local Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and Somerset Police Department. The station partnered with their local Jimmy John’s restaurant to provide sandwiches to each law enforcement agency, and to their listeners. At noon on July 27, Somerset 106 broadcasted live from their downtown courthouse and gave away 106 sandwiches to the first 106 listeners who came by to see them. The station aired live the 12:15 p.m. honking of the car horns — and car horns could be heard for miles away and for several minutes. Amy tells Radio Ink it was the power of radio helping to honor law enforcement officers.
