Midwest Communications is purchasing the five FMs and three affiliated translators from Red Rock Radio. The stations are KQDS-FM Duluth, WEVE-FM Eveleth, KGPZ-FM Coleraine, WXXZ-FM Grand Marais, KAODFM Babbitt, and translators W252AN Hibbing, W288AI Ely, and W221AU Virginia.
Red Rock Radio, based in Minnesota, is run by Kathy Lau and Shawn Skramstad. They own 24 radio stations in Minnesota. Midwest Communications owns 73 stations in Tennessee, Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Minnesota.
KQDS-FM operates at 94.9 MHz, with 100 kW at 846 HAAT.
WEVE-FM operates at 97.9 MHz, with 100 kW at 518 HAAT.
KGPZ-FM operates at 96.1 MHz, with 100 kW at 577 HAAT.
WXXZ-FM operates at 95.3 MHz, with 63 kW at 686 HAAT.
KAOD-FM operates at 106.7 MHz, with 33 kW at 430 HAAT.
