The Mentoring and Inspiring Women in Radio Group has named 20-year radio vet Angie Martinez its 2016 MIW Airblazer. Last year, the MIW Radio Group formed an alliance with Talentmaster’s Morning Show Boot Camp to establish the award, which is given to an on-air personality.
Martinez is known as “The Voice of New York,” and is heard on Power105.1 in New York City and The Beat 103.5 in Miami. Martinez started as a radio station intern when she was a teenager. She grew up in the radio world alongside her mother, a program director, at a smooth-jazz station.
