The nonprofit advocacy group for musicians announced that CEO Casey Rae will step down on June 6 and Board President Dick Huey will take over as interim CEO. Rae said, “FMC has been a huge part of my life both professionally and personally. In my ten years with the organization, I’ve had the great privilege to work with the most brilliant minds in the music space, especially FMC’s governing board and staff—people who have challenged, inspired and nurtured my development. I can’t thank them enough.”

“Since its beginnings 16 years ago, FMC has been focused on creating a more sustainable environment for artists and songwriters in the digital economy,” said Dick Huey. “The groundwork for policy, digital rights, artist tools, technology and community building has been laid by leaders, board and team and we thank Casey for his pivotal role in making FMC a reliable source for artist-friendly information. His commitment, vision and tremendous efforts to promote the FMC values of fair treatment for artists have left a significant mark and all in the FMC extended family thank him for his service.”

In addition to Interim CEO Dick Huey, executive committee members Vickie Nauman and Ken Umezaki will work with the Board of Directors, which includes musicians, songwriters, artist advocates, creative technology experts and philanthropic leaders and FMC staff in the transition. We are also pleased to announce that Kevin Erickson will assume an expanded role focusing on both organizing and policy effective immediately.
